Tires are the only thing touching the ground, and stock e-moto tires are usually the weakest part of the bike. A good set gives you more grip on climbs, better braking and fewer flats. Picking one is a trade-off between grip, how long it lasts, and what surface you ride most.
Below are the tires we carry and run, grouped by terrain, plus the stock sizes for popular bikes so you can order the right one. Thinking about changing wheel sizes too? See our Talaria wheel and tire setup guide.
First, know your size
The last number in a tire size is the rim diameter. A 70/100-19 fits a 19-inch rim. Stock sizes for popular bikes we sell:
- E-Ride Pro SS 2.0: 70/100-19 front, 80/100-19 rear
- E-Ride Pro SS 3.0: 2.75-19 front, 3.00-18 rear
- E-Ride Pro SR: 80/100-19 front, 100/90-18 rear (or 90/100-16 rear)
- Sur-Ron Light Bee X: 19-inch front and rear
- Sur-Ron Ultra Bee: 21-inch front, 18-inch rear
- Talaria Sting R MX4 / Sting MX5: 19-inch front and rear. Talaria XXX: 19-inch front, 17-inch rear.
Always check the sidewall of the tire on your bike before you order.
Grip vs. durability: the trade-off
Softer rubber and taller knobs grip better in loose dirt, but they wear fast on hardpack and pavement. Harder compounds and lower, tighter tread last longer but slide sooner in soft terrain. Pick the tire for the surface you ride most, not the one you ride occasionally.
Best for rocks, roots and technical climbs
Tusk Recon Hybrid
A soft, sticky rubber and a flexible carcass that wraps around rocks and roots like a trials tire, with motocross-style tread so it still works in sand and gravel. It's a rear tire for single track and technical enduro. Sizes: 70/100x19 and 90/100x16. Grip: excellent. Wear: faster on hardpack.
Pivotrax Killowatt Climber
Built for the stock 19-inch wheels on most e-motos. The 80/100x19 rear has more air volume than an 80/90x19, which helps grip and pinch-flat resistance. Sizes: 70/100x19 front, 80/100x19 and 90/100x18 rear. A strong choice for the E-Ride Pro SS 2.0, Light Bee X and Talaria Sting.
Best for soft dirt, loam and sand
Dunlop Geomax MX34
Taller knobs that dig into soft dirt and sand. Comes in sizes from 12 to 21 inches, including 70/100x19, 100/100x18 and 80/100x21.
Dunlop Geomax MX33
Sized for lighter electric bikes, in 70/100-21 and 90/100-18, so it fits narrower swingarms. Light weight helps keep range loss down.
Warp 9 MXE-9
A soft-to-intermediate tire with reinforced side knobs that hold a line in corners. Sizes: 70/100-19 and 90/100-16.
Dunlop Geomax MX14 (16-inch)
Dunlop's sand and mud tire, for riders running a 16-inch rear wheel.
Best all-around intermediate tires
Bridgestone BattleCross X30
Long tread life and predictable handling on most surfaces. Sizes: 70/100x19, 100/100x18 and 90/100x16.
Tusk T45 and Dunlop Geomax MX53
Both are intermediate-to-hard terrain tires. They grip well on packed trails and tracks and wear slower than a soft-terrain tire.
Best for mixed dirt and pavement
Shinko SR241
Our best-selling dual sport tire for e-motos. A soft, sticky trials-style tread that grips on pavement, hardpack, gravel and rock, and lasts a long time. It's not built for deep mud or loose sand.
Shinko 244
A traditional DOT dual sport tire for casual trail speeds and road riding. Very durable. The 2.75x19 fits stock 19-inch rims.
Warp 9 SwitchBack
A dual sport tire in 19x2.75 and 16x3.5 for riders who split time between street and trail.
Quick picks by riding style
- Rocky, technical trails: Tusk Recon Hybrid rear, Pivotrax Killowatt Climber front.
- Soft dirt and sand: Dunlop MX34 or MX33, or MX14 on a 16-inch rear.
- Mixed trail riding: Bridgestone X30, Tusk T45 or Dunlop MX53.
- Mostly pavement and hardpack: Shinko SR241, Shinko 244 or Warp 9 SwitchBack.
Tubes, pressure and when to replace
- Stock tubes are thin. A heavy duty tube like the Tusk 2mm or Kenda Tuff Tube cuts down on pinch flats.
- Run the pressure for your terrain and check it before every ride. Too low pinches tubes and dents rims; too high loses grip.
- Replace tires when knobs are rounded off or chunking, when you see sidewall cuts, or when the bike starts sliding in corners where it used to hook up. How long that takes depends heavily on terrain and riding style.
