The Ultimate Maintenance Checklist for Your E-Ride Pro SS 2.0 Electric Dirt Bike

The E-Ride Pro SS 2.0 doesn't need oil changes or valve adjustments. But with 12 kW peak, a 72V 40Ah battery and a 152 lb bike getting thrown around trails, it still needs regular attention. Here's the routine we'd follow, split into before every ride, every month and every season.

Heads up: E-Ride Pro no longer makes the SS 2.0. We have a few left in stock, and this still applies if you already own one. Buying new? The SS 3.0 and 4.0 are the current models.

Before every ride (5 minutes)

  • Tires: check pressure with a gauge, not your thumb. Look for cuts and loose rim locks.
  • Brakes: squeeze both levers. They should be firm, not spongy, and stop well short of the bar. Look at pad thickness through the caliper.
  • Chain: check slack and look for dry or kinked links. The SS 2.0 runs a 420 final-drive chain.
  • Controls: the throttle should snap back closed on its own. Test the kill switch, lights and ride-mode button (Eco / Sport / Turbo).
  • Battery: charged, latched and lid secure.
  • Quick bolt check: axle nuts, bar mount, brake caliper bolts and foot pegs.

After every ride

Monthly (or every 10–15 hours of riding)

Drive system

  • Primary belt: the SS 2.0 uses a belt from the motor to the jackshaft. Look for cracks, fraying or missing teeth, and listen for slipping or squealing. Replace with the E-Ride Pro OEM belt (S/SS 2.0/Mini option).
  • Chain and sprockets: check for hooked sprocket teeth and chain stretch. Replace the chain and sprockets together. Chain options include the Renthal 420 R-1 and Tusk 420 Gold race chain.
  • Chain alignment: adjust both axle blocks evenly. A chain alignment tool makes this easy.

Brakes

  • Replace pads before the friction material gets thin. The E-Moto OEM Replacement Brake Pads fit the SS 2.0. Order one set per caliper.
  • Clean rotors with isopropyl alcohol if braking gets noisy or weak. The SS 2.0 runs 220 mm rotors stock.

Suspension and chassis

  • Wipe the fork seals and shock shaft after every ride. Check them monthly for oil weeping.
  • Check that the steering head turns smoothly with no knock when you rock the bike with the front brake on.
  • Grab the swingarm and check for side-to-side play at the pivot and linkage.
  • Check spoke tension. Loose spokes are common on new bikes after the first few rides.

Electrical

  • Check connectors and wiring for rub points, especially around the steering head after bar changes.
  • Keep the battery connector clean and dry.

Every season (or a few times a year if you ride a lot)

  • Brake fluid: if the lever feels soft after pad changes, the system needs bleeding. Use only the fluid type specified on the master-cylinder cap or in your manual. Never mix DOT fluid and mineral oil.
  • Bearings: wheel, steering-head and linkage bearings. Grease them with a waterproof grease like Maxima Hi-Temp Waterproof Grease, or replace rough ones (E-Ride Pro OEM wheel bearings).
  • Fork and shock service: how often depends on riding conditions; muddy and dusty riding means sooner.
  • Full bolt check with a torque wrench using your manual's specs. The Pinned Electric Torque Wrench Tool Kit covers most of the small fasteners.

Battery storage

If the bike will sit for more than a few weeks, store the battery partially charged (not full or empty), indoors, away from heat and cold. Top it up every few weeks. Never charge unattended.

Common mistakes

  • Over-tightening small bolts into aluminum. Use a torque wrench.
  • Pressure-washing the electronics and bearings
  • Running the chain too tight. Suspension travel tightens it further.
  • Ignoring a squealing belt until it fails on the trail
