The Rawrr Mantis X is a light, playful 72V e-moto: 6.5 kW max, about 50 mph and roughly 139 lbs. Like most bikes at its price, it cuts corners in a few places, mainly the brakes, the front suspension and the parts that take hits on the trail. This is our list of upgrades that actually change how the bike rides, in the order we'd do them.
For grips, levers, throttle and display setup, see our Rawrr Mantis X cockpit setup guide. This post covers everything else.
1. Foot Pegs
Stock pegs are narrow and slick, especially when your boots are wet or muddy. Bigger, grippier pegs are the cheapest way to feel more in control when you're standing:
- Warp 9 Elite Foot Pegs: forged 7075 aluminum with a large platform. They fit the Mantis X and Mantis Mini only.
- EMoto-X Rawrr Upgraded Foot Pegs: fit all Mantis models.
2. Brakes
A light bike that makes 50 mph needs brakes you can trust on a long descent.
- Pads first: MTX Gold Label brake pads list the Mantis X in their fitment and are designed for heavier e-motos. They're a big step up from stock pads for very little money.
- Full brake upgrade: Formula E-Moto Brakes fit the Mantis X and use a motorcycle-style master cylinder for more power and better modulation.
- Protect the rear rotor: the KKE Rear Brake Disc Guard shields the thin rear rotor from rocks and stumps. It fits 220 mm rotors only.
3. Front Suspension
If the front end dives or deflects off rocks, a fork upgrade is the biggest handling improvement you can make. The RFloXa Hawk32 Front Fork lists the Mantis X in its fitment and offers about 203 mm of travel.
On the original Mantis (60V and 70V), the EMoto-X Rear Shock Mounting Kit lets you run a Sur-Ron, Talaria or E-Ride Pro rear shock in place of the stock unit.
4. Drivetrain
- Warp 9 420 E-Moto Sprocket: fits the Mantis and Mantis X. Go bigger for more torque on trails, or smaller for more top speed.
- Tusk 420 Gold Plated Race Chain: a durable chain that fits the Mantis X. Replace it whenever you change sprockets.
- KKE Rear Chain Guard and KKE Axle Chain Adjuster Blocks: billet replacements for parts that bend or strip.
5. Tires
Match your tires to your terrain. Use an aggressive knobby for loose dirt, or a trials or dual-sport tire if you ride a lot of hardpack, rock or pavement. Check the size on your stock tire's sidewall and shop by that size in our e-moto tires collection.
6. Headlight
The stock light is fine for getting home but not for real night riding. The Headlight Adapter Universal for the Rawrr Mantis X and Mini lets you run a standard Sur-Ron Light Bee or Talaria-style aftermarket headlight on your Mantis. It comes in high/off and high/low versions. Email us before you order a light so we can confirm the mounting works for your setup.
7. Protection
Warp 9 E-Moto Hand Guards fit the Mantis and Mantis X. They save levers, knuckles and the throttle when you go down in the woods.
Our Recommended Order
- Pegs and brake pads (cheap and you'll feel them immediately)
- Hand guards and the display relocation bracket (protect what's expensive)
- Tires for your terrain
- Full brakes and fork once you're riding hard
Shop everything in our Rawrr Mantis X parts collection. Got an original Mantis or a Mantis Mini? Fitment varies, so email support@tbelectricmoto.com and a real rider will confirm what fits before you order. Most orders ship within 24 hours.
