The Talaria XXX (also called the X3) is a light, easy-to-ride e-moto. Stock it makes about 4.2 kW peak on a 60V battery and tops out around 32 mph. That makes it a great trail and pit bike, but the stock cockpit, pegs, brakes and suspension are built to a budget. Here are the parts we'd put on a XXX first, all listed to fit the XXX.
Fitment note: the XXX runs a 19" front and 17" rear wheel and a belt primary drive. It shares some parts with the Sting MX3 / Sting R MX4 (brake kits, some bars and mounts). It shares very little with the Sting MX5. Always check the fitment list on the product page.
Must-Do First: Bars, Pegs and Grips
These cost the least and change how the bike feels the most. Our Talaria XXX Must Do First Upgrades bundle covers the basics:
- Bars: the Warp 9 3in Rise Handlebars (31.8 mm clamp) get taller riders out of the hunched-over position and give you more leverage standing up.
- Pegs: stock pegs are narrow and slippery. Warp 9 Upgraded Foot Pegs give you a 57 x 87 mm platform with real teeth.
- Throttle extension: if you raise your bars, get the Warp 9 Talaria Throttle Extension. Without it, the throttle plug can pull apart and throw error code 37. That happens most often on the XXX.
- Grips: softer grips like Pro Taper Pillow Top cut down on vibration and arm pump.
Bar Mount, Stem Lock and Hand Guards
- The Warp 9 Bar Mount fits the XXX. It stiffens the front end and keeps the bars from twisting in a crash.
- If you run a direct-mount stem, add the Warp 9 Stem Lock so the head bearings stay tight.
- Warp 9 E-Moto Hand Guards protect your levers and hands in the trees.
Brakes
The stock XXX brakes are fine for casual riding but fade quickly on long descents. The biggest upgrade is a moto brake conversion using Sur-Ron Ultra Bee brakes:
- TB Moto Brake Conversion Kit for Talaria MX4/XXX: bracket, 240 mm rotor and Ultra Bee brake.
- EBIKE Garage Moto Brake Conversion Kit for MX4/XXX, sold as a front, rear or full kit.
- If you want a motorcycle-style rear brake, look at the EBIKE Garage Foot Brake Kit for XXX.
Suspension
The stock fork has about 160 mm of travel and is soft for heavier or more aggressive riders. The EXT Suspension Upgrade Bundle pairs the Ferro fork with the Arma shock and lists the XXX in its fitment. The EXT Black Edition is the same combo in all black. Before you spend money, set sag for your weight on the stock suspension.
Wheels and Tires
- When you replace tires, match the size printed on your stock tire's sidewall. The XXX runs a 17" rear, so a lot of 19"-only e-moto tires won't fit the back. Browse E-Moto Tires by size.
- For a street setup, the 17in Supermoto Wheelset for Talaria Sting and XXX bolts on.
- To go stronger and wider for dirt, the KKE 16in x 19in Excel Wheels list the XXX.
Drivetrain
The belt primary drive works, but it can slip or snap under extra power. If you're planning a motor or controller upgrade, the 219 RLV Sealed O-Ring Belt to Chain Conversion Kit swaps the belt for a sealed chain.
Lighting
The stock headlight is weak. The Talaria XXX Headlight Bundle includes a GritShift Blinder headlight, a plug-in connector that keeps the stock switch working, a bracket, and an ODI number plate to cover the wiring.
Style and Protection
- TB Talaria XXX Aluminum Chain Guard replaces the plastic stock guard.
- TB Talaria XXX Motor Cover and TB XXX Peg Hangers come in six anodized colors.
- Seats: Guts Complete Seat for Talaria XXX or a Guts Seat Cover if you just want more grip.
