What's New on the 4.0 vs the SS 3.0
E-Ride Pro didn't just give the 3.0 a new paint job. Here's what changed:
- More power: peak output goes from 15.8 kW on the SS 3.0 to 18 kW on the 4.0. You get harder pulls out of corners and more torque on climbs.
- Longer-travel forks: 750–775 mm fork length with 200–220 mm of travel, so it's more controlled in chop, roots and rocks.
- New handlebar switch: one switch for ECO / Sport / Race, a turn-signal button, horn, reverse, 3-level regen and high/low beam.
- Smart battery system: a digital readout for battery level and fault codes, a dedicated battery comms connector and a locking battery connector.
- Better lighting: a brighter high/low beam headlight and LED turn signals at all four corners.
- New display: turn-signal indicators and a dedicated Race mode readout, plus speed, battery and trip data.
Motor and Power
The 4.0 is rated at 7 kW continuous and 18 kW peak, and it runs 0–30 mph in 2 seconds. That's a real jump over the SS 3.0's 15.8 kW peak. It's still smooth enough at low speed to ride technical trail in ECO.
The three ride modes do different jobs. ECO is for tight singletrack and newer riders, Sport is for everyday trail riding, and Race opens up the full 18 kW. Reverse is easy to miss on the spec sheet, but you'll use it every time you get the bike stuck nose-first in a ditch.
Battery, Range and Charging
The 72V 50Ah pack holds 3,600 Wh, the same capacity as the SS 3.0 and SR. E-Ride Pro rates it at 64+ miles at a steady 25 mph and 100+ miles at 15 mph. Real trail range will be lower if you're riding hard in Race mode, climbing a lot or carrying more weight.
Charging from 20% to 90% takes about 3.5 hours. The pack is swappable, so if you want back-to-back sessions, a second battery is the way to go. The new locking connector and fault-code display are good additions. You'll know exactly what's going on with the pack instead of guessing.
Suspension and Chassis
The longer forks are the biggest chassis change. With 200–220 mm of travel up front and adjustable sport suspension, the 4.0 handles bigger hits and fast rough sections better than the earlier full-size E-Ride Pros.
It rolls on a true moto wheel setup, 19-inch front and 18-inch rear (2.75-19 / 3.00-18). That means a wide choice of real dirt bike tires, and better rollover than the smaller-wheel bikes. Seat height is 32.7 inches. The bike comes with either a short seat or a long seat. Pick the long seat if you're taller or ride two-up on private land.
E-Ride Pro 4.0 vs SS 3.0 vs SR
| Pro 4.0 | SS 3.0 | SR | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Peak power | 18 kW | 15.8 kW | 25 kW |
| Top speed | 60 mph | 62 mph | 70 mph |
| Battery | 72V 50Ah | 72V 50Ah | 72V 50Ah |
| Range (rated) | 64+ mi @ 25 mph | 64+ mi @ 25 mph | 62+ mi @ 25 mph |
| Standout feature | Longer forks, new switchgear, smart battery | Proven platform, lower price | Most power, Bluetooth app tuning |
| Price | $4,999 | $4,699 | $5,199 |
Which one should you buy? If you want the newest chassis, better suspension and a cleaner cockpit, get the 4.0. If you want the most power and like tuning from your phone, the SR is the pick. The SS 3.0 makes sense if you want a proven bike for $300 less and the extra 2.2 kW doesn't matter to you.
Who the E-Ride Pro 4.0 Is For
- Trail riders moving up from a Light Bee-class bike who want full-size wheels and more power.
- SS 2.0 and 3.0 owners who want better suspension and the new controls.
- Riders who want to just ride: turn signals, horn, high/low beam and reverse all come stock.
Every 4.0 ships with an MCO (Manufacturer's Certificate of Origin), which makes it easy to register for off-road use.
