Range: Our Real Test Results

Our standard test holds eco mode at about 25 mph and sport mode at 50 mph on GPS until the battery dies. Here's what the SS 3.0 did:

  • Eco mode (~25 mph): 49.2 miles
  • Sport mode (50 mph): 26.9 miles

There's a big caveat. We filmed this test in Utah in December, with temperatures below 40°F. Every electric bike loses range in the cold. From our other cold vs warm tests, we've seen about 23% less range in eco and about 19% less in sport. In 70–80°F weather, we'd estimate about 65 miles in eco and 32.5 miles in sport. Those are estimates, not tested numbers.

After the test, we let a bunch of riders take it out in St. George, Utah. In real riding, the 50Ah battery impressed us. Range is one of this bike's biggest strengths.

Motor and Power

The SS 3.0 makes 6 kW continuous and 15.8 kW peak, with 0–30 mph in 2 seconds. That's nearly 4 kW more than the SS 2.0. It pulls hard out of corners and holds speed up long climbs. With a 62 mph rated top speed, it's one of the faster bikes in its price range.

Chassis, Wheels and Suspension

The 3.0 runs a true moto wheel setup: a 19-inch front (2.75-19) and an 18-inch rear (3.00-18). That opens up a huge choice of dirt bike tires and rolls over rocks and ruts better than smaller wheels. Suspension is adjustable FAST ACE front and rear. Seat height is 32.7 inches, and the 302 lb weight limit works for bigger riders.

Which one? The SS 3.0 is the best mix of power, range and price in the lineup. The 4.0 adds longer-travel forks, new switchgear and 18 kW for $300 more. The SR is the power pick at 25 kW. The SS 2.0 is lighter and cheaper if you don't need the 50Ah battery.

Who the SS 3.0 Is For

  • Riders who want range. The 50Ah battery is the 3.0's big advantage.
  • Bigger riders who need a 300+ lb weight limit and full-size wheels.
  • Riders moving up from a light e-moto who want more power without paying SR prices.

Every SS 3.0 comes with an MCO (Manufacturer's Certificate of Origin), which makes off-road registration simple.
