New Year, New Ride: Best E-Moto Customization Trends

Every winter the same thing happens: riders park their bikes for a few weeks, start scrolling, and come back in spring with a parts list. Here's what we actually see riders doing to their e-motos right now, from the cheap stuff that changes how the bike feels to the bigger builds. Whether you ride an E-Ride Pro, a Sur-Ron, a Talaria or a 79Bike, most of this applies.

1. Cockpit swaps come first

The most common first move isn't power. It's the cockpit. Stock bars, grips and levers on most e-motos are fine, but a taller bar with the right sweep, softer grips and break-away levers change how the bike feels on every single ride.

  • Bars and bar mounts: riders are moving to MX-style 1-1/8" fat bars or 31.8 mm bars on a direct-mount stem for more rise and less flex. Browse the cockpit and handlebar parts.
  • Grips and levers: lock-on grips and folding or break-away levers save a lot of headaches after a tip-over.

2. Lighting that actually lights the trail

Stock headlights on most off-road e-motos are made to be seen, not to see with. Bolt-on LED headlights from brands like Baja Designs and GiGigo are one of the most popular upgrades for anyone riding at dusk. Check fitment and plug type for your bike in our lighting collection, and look at a headlight adapter if your bike's connector is different.

3. Protection before it's needed

Skid plates, rotor guards, shock covers and hand guards are boring until the day they save your battery case or a brake rotor. Most riders who ride rocky trails add a skid plate early. See the e-moto skid plates and our protection parts.

4. Seats and seat covers

Taller riders want more height; everyone wants more grip. Gripper seat covers and complete seats from brands like Guts Racing are a big trend, because the stock seat is often thin and slippery. Shop seats and seat covers.

5. Graphics, wraps and carbon

Decal kits and frame wraps are the fastest way to make your bike look like yours, and they protect the plastics and frame at the same time. Carbon fiber body parts are popular for riders who want a cleaner look. See decal kits and carbon fiber parts.

6. Supermoto wheel sets

A second wheel set with 17" street tires turns a dirt bike into a supermoto for pavement days. 17" sets exist for several platforms, including Sur-Ron, E-Ride Pro, 79Bike and Ventus, and for the Talaria Sting and XXX. Check the exact fitment on the product page before ordering. Browse wheels.

7. Suspension for your weight

Stock suspension on most e-motos is set up for an average-weight rider. Heavier or more aggressive riders are going to stiffer springs, upgraded shocks or a full fork swap. Start with proper sag before buying parts. Then look at suspension upgrades if you're still bottoming out.

8. Controller and motor builds

At the top end, riders are swapping controllers and motors for more power. This is the most expensive and most involved trend. It can affect your warranty and needs supporting upgrades like brakes, chain and suspension. Go in with a plan and confirm compatibility with us first. See controllers and motors.

How to plan your build

  • Start with contact points: bars, grips, levers, seat. These matter every ride.
  • Protect the expensive parts: skid plate and guards before power mods.
  • Add power last: and only after brakes and suspension can handle it.
  • Check fitment: model and year matter. When in doubt, email support@tbelectricmoto.com and a real rider on our team will confirm fitment.

Most in-stock orders ship within 24 hours, so you can have the bike sorted before your next ride.
