The EBMX XUB-80 is a high-performance replacement motor for the Surron Ultra Bee. It has a bigger 80mm stator and rotor stack and is more powerful than its little brother, the XLB-60.

Why Encoder Sensors?

The EBMX motor range is designed to outperform other motors in its class. Unlike many competitors that use hall sensors, EBMX uses encoder sensors because they are more stable under demanding riding conditions.

Hall sensors estimate the rotor position. They're typically used for tracking during start-up and up to about 2,000 RPM, after which the motor runs "sensorless." During intense riding, like wheel spin and sudden deceleration combined with rapid throttle changes, hall sensor angle detection can cause large current spikes in the controller. This can cause many controllers to trip and lose throttle power, although this is less common with the X-9000.

Encoder sensors measure the rotor's exact angle at all speeds and update more often than hall sensors. The result is a smoother, more responsive and more controllable powerband without the current spikes that often cause controller issues, plus better low-end torque control and overall motor response.

Controller Compatibility

EBMX motors are custom built and finely tuned to work with the EBMX X-9000 controller. They will work with many other controllers, but may require your own custom tuning.

Does the XUB-80 fit the Surron Light Bee?
