Top Speed: What We Measured
In Sport mode, our GPS showed a max of 59.6 mph. Holding Sport+ (the temporary 17 kW boost that kicks in a few seconds after you hold it) got us 59.8 mph. Sport+ feels noticeably harder on acceleration but barely changes top speed. Rerode's 59 mph rating is right on.
Range: Our Real Test Results
- Eco mode (~27–28 mph average): 50.7 miles
- Sport mode (50 mph average): 26 miles
That put the R1+ in 12th place on our chart, just ahead of the Tork Pro Sport. The Tork has a bigger 45Ah battery, so the R1+ is the more efficient bike. It's one of the most efficient bikes we've tested for its battery size.
Motor, Chassis and Handling
The 17 kW peak is available in Sport+ mode as a temporary boost, a bit like a turbo button. That keeps the battery and motor happy while giving you extra punch when you need it. The 500 Nm of torque gives instant pull for technical riding and climbs. It crushed a big hill in our review.
The aluminum alloy frame has a low 64.5° head tube angle for stability, and the fork offers 200 mm of travel with high- and low-speed compression damping. At 151 lbs on our scale, it's light and easy to handle.
