The Sur-Ron Ultra Bee is already one of the strongest mid-size e-motos you can buy. Stock, it's a great trail bike. Built right, it'll run with much bigger machines. Here's how we'd upgrade one, starting with the parts that make it easier to ride fast before adding more power.
1. Cockpit: get comfortable first
The stock Ultra Bee bars sit low for taller riders, and the stock grips wear your hands out on long rides. Our Surron Ultra Bee Recommended First Upgrades bundle fixes both: a Warp 9 Tapped MX Handlebar (1 1/8" clamp), upgraded grips, a billet throttle tube and Warp 9 Elite footpegs. If you only want the pegs, grab the Warp 9 Surron Ultra Bee Upgraded Foot Pegs.
2. Suspension
As your speed goes up, the stock suspension is the next limit. Two directions:
- Full upgrade: the Sirris F43 Fork and Sirris R46 Shock (with the Sirris Triangle for R46).
- Linkage tuning: the Heavy Hitter Ultra Bee Triangle or Warp 9 Surron Ultra Bee Triangles change the rear ride height and progression without replacing the shock.
More options in Suspension.
3. Wheels and tires
A 21" front wheel rolls over rocks and roots better and gives the bike a more dirt-bike feel. The Warp 9 Front Wheel for Surron Ultra Bee 21in is a direct fit, and you can get it complete with a 240 mm rotor and tire. For a full set, the KKE 21in x 18in Wheels for Surron Ultra Bee use your stock rotors and sprocket (note: KKE says traction control won't work with the 21/18 setup). For street riding, the KKE 17in x 17in Supermoto Wheels fit too. Tires: see E-Moto Tires and match the size to your wheels.
Carry a Tusk Tire Iron Kit so a flat doesn't end your day.
4. Gearing and drivetrain
Gearing is the cheapest way to change how the bike pulls. On the rear sprocket: bigger = harder acceleration and lower top speed; smaller = more top speed and softer launches. On the front, it's the reverse.
- Sprockets: Warp 9 Surron Ultra Bee Sprocket, Heavy Hitter 520 Ultra Bee Sprocket
- Chain: Tusk 520 Gold X-Ring Ultra Bee Chain
- The Ultra Bee's primary drive is a belt. If you're adding a lot of power, a belt-to-chain kit like the Race Primary Belt to Chain Conversion Kit (420 RK MXZ) is the common fix.
Keep the chain clean and adjusted. A Tusk Chain Brush makes it quick.
5. Brakes
More speed needs more stopping. The stock pads fade when ridden hard. EBMX Competition Brake Pads fix that, and Warp 9 Ultra Bee Brake Rotors come in 240 mm (stock size) floating or larger 260/300 mm front options.
6. Power
Once the chassis can handle it, this is where the Ultra Bee really wakes up:
- EBMX X-9000 V3 Upgraded Controller with the EBMX Ultra Bee Pro Mount and Ultra Bee display harness – tunable power levels, throttle maps and regen.
- EBMX XUB-80 Upgraded Motor For Surron Ultra Bee – for riders who want a lot more.
Big power pulls harder on the battery, brakes and drivetrain, so plan the whole build. Talk to us before you buy.
7. Protection
A TB Surron Ultra Bee Skid Plate and Warp 9 Rear Rotor Guard are cheap insurance against rocks and logs.
Where to start
Cockpit, then suspension and tires, then brakes, then power. That order keeps the bike fun and safe as it gets faster. Shop everything in Surron Ultra Bee parts, or email support@tbelectricmoto.com for fitment help from riders who know these bikes. Most orders ship within 24 hours.
